Low's report:
This
week we I've been studying about the many converts in the book of Mormon, and
spent much time looking at the conversion of Zeezrom. I think it is just
amazing how despite his past beliefs, despite his knowing that believing
upon the words of Alma and Amulek would destroy his popularity and thus his livelihood,
when true doctrine was taught to him he felt of the truth of that doctrine and
the Spirit of God bore witness of it, he acted upon that knowledge.
For
about 2 transfers the Key West elders have been trying to get an investigator
named George to church. I say the Key West elders because I wasn't even here
when he started to be taught. He accepted everything, he understood the
importance of the restoration, and believed God had raised up the church, and
knew he needed to live the commandments from day one, but because of severe
anxiety, he was unable to attend church for months. Finally last week we
committed him very solidly to come to church. Unfortunately the morning of at 8
o'clock in the morning, he text-ed us and said he couldn't do it. My companion and
I however would not let that fly, and we went over to his house thirty minutes
later. He said he was scared, he said he just couldn't. We read to him the
story of the ten lepers, taught of priesthood blessings, and testified that if
he would promise to come to church, even as the lepers walked to the priest
before being healed, that he would be healed by the power of God from his
anxiety. He accepted. He came to church, and wants to be baptized next week.
Truly
as we teach of the doctrine of Christ, God will change the hearts of the Elect.
